We are absolutely thrilled and excited to announce that we have just received news that we have now got official charity status!!!! Thank you all for doing all that you do to support MIN. Whether big or small, it makes a huge difference to us and has all contributed to us being able to provide this vital support service to mums. We couldn’t have got to this point without you. It’s great to be officially recognised for what we do.
We are delighted to announce that Mums in Need are hosting our very first professionals open day!
In order to ensure we are providing the best possible support to mums who are in need, it’s vital we connect with more services within Sheffield. Hosting an open day gives us the ideal opportunity to showcase how we can support mums who have escaped an emotionally abusive relationship and how we can work with others to create a network of support across the city.
Everyone is welcome. All we ask is that you or your organisation come into direct contact with mums through business or employment. If this is you, please come along to meet our staff and volunteers and learn more about our referral process.
As well as learning more about MIN, there will be an opportunity to network with other attendees, which is always a positive when attending these events. Of course, there will be cake too.

For the past four weeks we’ve had two amazing 3rd year medical students from the University of Sheffield on placement with us.
As part of their extensive course, they are required to complete a four-week placement to see the wider implications of health care in our local community.
They have been absolutely wonderful and flexible They have developed tools to help MIN show evidence of our impact and help us monitor progress. This will give us a greater understanding into the changes MIN is making to people’s lives and the difference we are making in the community. We can also use the information to prove to funders and grant-makers that we make a real impact.
They’ve also had the lovely idea of creating a resource package for mums with lots of handy and helpful links, providing them with even more empowering information and advice.
They’ve been a great addition to our team of passionate volunteers, and we appreciate how flexible they’ve been, especially considering that they started on in the middle of our moving process. They were very supportive and helped us pack and unpack!
Today we also say goodbye to our student from Tapton School who has been with us from September. She is hoping to study a midwifery course so got in touch to gain experience with Mums in Need.
She volunteered with us once a week and has been an absolute pleasure. Her can-do attitude and sparkly personality have been very welcome here. We’ve been very grateful that she’s been so flexible and has turned her hand to many a task, including being part of our promotional material, writing FAQs for our website, setting up our bric-a-brac sales area, sorting donations and so much more!
We know she’ll do very well in the future and are excited to see her achieve her dreams!
We appreciate all they’ve done for us and hope they’ve enjoyed being here as much as we’ve enjoyed having them. We hope their time here has been informative, useful and enjoyable. We hope they keep in touch and wish them all the best for the future.
Mums In Need HQ will move our premises from Block D of Meadowhall Business Park to join Forces Support in Block B/2 on 27th November. We would like to thank Meadowhall Business Park for providing us with the space to develop which has allowed us to double in size. We have since been able to support mums face-to-face and expand our support services and volunteer team. We would not exist without the provision of these offices and we look forward to moving into our new home for the foreseeable future. We’re hoping to get support services up and running as soon as possible. If you know anyone who needs support, they can contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the move there will unfortunately be no fundraiser sale this month, however we’ll announce future fundraising sales via our Facebook site. If you’d like to support us in the meantime, our fundraiser gig is happening on 1st December and we’d love to see you there.
